What a shame that this beautiful church is now closed and its future being considered. I could only hope that it can remain a house of the Lord. My grandfather (Charles Harold Sampson) ‘s funeral was held in this church in 1927 and his 13 year old daughter Marjorie Doreen Sampson (my aunty) had her funeral service held in this church in 1939. They were both laid to rest in the cemetery at 20 Montagu Street {corner of William Street}, Sorell. When they both passed away, the church was known as the Presbyterian Church at Sorell.
It’s a shame it a beautiful old church my husband and I were married in it. We were told that we were first ones to be married in it was always going to look into it but never have as of yet
