PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
Last Sunday, the Reverend Dr. Lang preached three times to most crowded congregations, and declared the Scotch Church vacant. The Reverend gentleman, after the sermon, delivered a most impressive address, alluding, both in it and his sermons, in a very delicate, but most appropriate manner, to the lamentable circumstance which had rendered it necessary to call for the resignation of the late Minister. He also recommended the establishment of a Society for bringing out Presbyterian Ministers, and also for providing the means of classical education for the youth of the Colony, which we trust he will set on foot before he leaves the Colony. Dr. Lang proceeded to Launceston on, Monday, being, as we understand, deputed by the Presbytery of New South Wales, to enquire into, and report upon the condition of the Presbyterian Congregations in this Colony. On his return, he is to open St. Andrew’s Church, for Divine Service, when we trust that all Scotchmen within reach of Hobart Town will attend to mark their attachment to the faith for which their fathers bled, and the influence of which has obtained for the land of their ancestors a proud moral distinction amongst the nations or the earth.

The Scots Kirk, St. Andrews, was opened on Sunday last for the first time, when a very suitable address was delivered by the Rev. Dr. Lang, who has reached this Colony for a short period. The interior of this building is not yet finished, but the masonry cannot be surpassed by any builders in any part of the world Messrs. Jackson & Addison were the contractors.
