The first Anglican chapel was opened in 1837.

AT A MEETING, held at Mr. Kennedy Murray’s, on Tuesday, May 6th, 1834, for the purpose of taking into consideration the necessity which exists for the immediate erection of a temporary Chapel and School-room, in the district of Morven,—
J. W. GLEADOW, Esq., in the Chair,
It was resolved, —
That this meeting, grateful to Almighty God for the prospect now offered, of the immediate erection of a place of worship and school-house in this populous district, hereby pledge themselves to use every exertion in their power to forward so laudable an undertaking.
Resolved, —
That it is the opinion of this Meeting that the land offered by Mr. Kennedy Murray and Mr. Collins, is the most central situation in the district for the site of the proposed building.
Resolved,—
That the thanks of this Meeting are due, and hereby given, to Mr. Kennedy Murray and Mr. Collins, for their gratuitous grant of six acres of land, which has been most thank fully accepted.
Resolved,—
That the Rev. K. R. Davies be empowered to enter into contract for the completion of the building, according to the plans produced, with such additions as he may be able to accomplish for the amount subscribed.
Resolved,—
That the thanks of this Meeting be given to his Majesty’s Government for their donation of £100 ; and that the Rev. R. R. Davies be requested to obtain their further assist ance by the loan of a few mechanics for 3 months.
Resolved,—
That the subscriptions be forthwith collected, and paid over to the Rev. R. R. Davies, who is requested to act as Treasurer.
Resolved, —
That the thanks of this Meeting be given to the Rev. R. R. Davies for the great zeal which he has exhibited for the temporal and spiritual welfare of the district, and the trouble he has taken in procuring and collecting subscriptions.
